AMR Provides California Family with Special Gift on Christmas

1.23.2024

AMR's Home for the Holidays program allowed a hospice patient in Riverside to spend a day at home with his family.
First responders from American Medical Response (AMR) were honored to give 91-year-old Alvaro Tamayo the gift of time with his family on Christmas Eve. Tamayo is a hospice patient who resides at Citrus Place in Riverside, and due to his required assistance and care would not otherwise be able to visit his family. As part of their Home for the Holiday’s program, AMR provided Tamayo round-trip transportation with medical supervision from EMTs for the duration of the 4-hour visit.

“Thank you for making this possible for my family,” shared Tamayo’s daughter, Maritza Diaz. “The EMTs were wonderful, and everything went so well. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”

To safely transport Tamayo on Christmas Eve, AMR’s team included EMT Angel Ventura and EMT Ty Burkley.

AMR’s Home for the Holiday’s program provides courtesy transportation with medical supervision to patients like Tamayo, gifting them time to spend with family and friends during the holidays. It was an honor and a joy for the team from AMR Riverside to make this special day happen for Tamayo.
