Franchon Jackson

Dispatch Supervisor

Born into a local family of first responders, Franchon Jackson’s deep-rooted connections within the Jackson, Mississippi community and her sense of multi-generational purpose are what first sparked her interest in an emergency medical services (EMS) career with Global Medical Response (GMR).

Inspired by her father, who was a 911 supervisor for the City of Jackson, Franchon grew up watching what true service looked like, so she knew from a young age that she wanted to carry on his legacy. Beginning in 1992, she did just that, joining American Medical Response (AMR) Central Mississippi as a telecommunicator. 34 years later, she still works there, remaining a steady, trusted voice in the community as a dispatch supervisor.

“Stick with GMR, and you could go very far” is the solid advice Franchon lives by. The problem-solving, leadership and communication skills she gained from her mentors are the same skills that developed her calm, confident presence; the same presence she brings to every emergency call.

Franchon learned how to be successful as the first contact for patients and assisting bystanders by observing her superiors and applying the same communication methods and professionalism they demonstrated in her own work.

By 2022, she had been recognized as a GMR Stars of Life honoree in Washington, D.C. She reached this national stage of honor and success for supporting and maintaining AMR Central Mississippi’s outstanding communications dispatch center.

Now, as one of Mississippi’s busiest ambulance service providers, her operation has one of the highest compliance rates.

Tasked with identifying the emergency, triaging its severity and providing direction to our emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics enroute, its dispatchers like Franchon who determine the success of every call. By following in her footsteps—and in the footsteps of the man who inspired her—you too can step into a purpose-driven, profoundly rewarding EMS career. After all, her story is proof that when you serve with heart, courage and commitment, your impact can echo across decades.
