John Hodges

Operations Director

40 years ago, John Hodges pledged to serve the public and has continually dedicated his life to ensuring their safety. For 35 of those years, he did this by working for American Medical Response (AMR). Today, he remains a valued team member at the AMR base in Dallas, TX and has had the privilege of serving the greater Dallas Fort-Worth area throughout his tenure.

In 1986, John began his EMS career as an EMT. After several years in the field, handling 24-hour shifts, he embraced the challenge of transitioning to communications with AMR. This pivotal career move broadened his perspective on operations and education.

“This field offers deeply rewarding experiences within a team-oriented environment and numerous growth opportunities. Our organization provides various career paths that many might not initially recognize, as it requires a diverse team to support all aspects of mobile healthcare, both in emergent and non-emergent situations.”

No stranger to either situation—nor the talent and qualities needed to respond to them—John was promoted to communications director. From there, he advanced to his current role as director of operations.

Regardless of his role, John has always found ways to make a meaningful difference. He was a proud member of the AMR Disaster Response Team, where he assisted with deployment to Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina as well as Hurricanes Harvey, Florence and Michael.

Were someone interested in a career in EMS with GMR, John’s advice is simple: “This job requires immense dedication, unwavering attention, a deep passion for helping others and significant personal sacrifice. We encounter some of the most challenging moments in people's lives and managing these situations daily requires a unique kind of individual—one who often possesses extraordinary qualities that even they may not recognize.”

This view is crucial for success in the healthcare and public service sectors. By assisting people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, John has shared in its importance day in and day out. We applaud his legacy, praise his steadfastness and welcome anyone looking to follow in his footsteps.
