Misty Stiner

In 2004, Misty Stiner experienced every parent’s worst nightmare; she lost her son. To honor his memory, she chose to serve as an emergency medical services (EMS) professional at Air Evac Lifeteam.

Based in West Plains, Missouri, Misty has held many roles within the Air Evac family over the past 20 years. From patient accounts biller to legal liaison, her career path is now an exemplary model for job candidates who want to help others navigate their health insurance claims.

The skills Misty gained early on and continues to use in her EMS role today include communication, teamwork, organization and a strong work ethic.

She explains, “If you or someone you know is interested in a career in EMS with GMR, I’d like to give this piece of advice: don’t be afraid. Prioritize constantly learning, be a strong communicator, and you will find your place here.” You might even find yourself along the way.

Not only is she a financial advocate, but Misty is also someone—because of her personal life experience—who intimately understands that every instance a patient needs help is unique.

“The impetus for my career change may have driven me in the beginning, yet over the years, it was the relationships I built with colleagues and patients that have given more back to me than I ever thought possible. It has helped me heal.”
