Tom Anderson

Tom has proudly served with the American Medical Response (AMR) operation in Pueblo/Canon City for 30 of the 36 years he has served in the emergency medical services (EMS) industry, building a career rooted in dedication, growth and service.

He began his career as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and, as Tom’s experience grew, so did his responsibilities. Over the years, he has served as a field training officer, supervisor, lead supervisor and now administrative supervisor. Each role has strengthened his leadership skills and reinforced his commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

One skill set has remained constant throughout Tom’s career: communication. He explains, “Early mentors and managers [have] taught me that effective communication is essential in EMS. Clear, timely and accurate information can directly impact patient care, team performance and operational success.”

Decades later, communication continues to be one of his most valuable leadership tools. Whether collaborating with frontline clinicians, coordinating with community partners, resolving operational challenges or fostering positive workplace relationships, Tom—much like AMR—believes that strong communication is the cornerstone of every successful EMS organization.

When asked what advice he would give someone considering a career with AMR or another Global Medical Response (GMR) solution, his message is simple: “Take advantage of every opportunity available.”

He especially credits GMR’s commitment to employee development for creating pathways to growth across clinical care, operations, leadership and business management, saying, “Through training, education, mentorship and professional development programs, our teams are empowered to build meaningful careers while continually expanding their skills.
