The Bell 707, a state-of-the-art aircraft, offers an elevated level of the care, creating a new benchmark for medical transport in the region
In a medical emergency, every second counts. Immediate access to treatment can mean the difference between life and death for patients in critical condition. Starting today, communities across western Kentucky and southern Illinois will benefit from a major upgrade in emergency medical care. Air Evac Lifeteam (AEL), a division of Global Medical Response, is proud to introduce a Bell 407 helicopter into service.

“For nearly seven years, our team has stood on the front lines of healthcare emergencies in McCracken and surrounding counties,” said Allen Jones, program manager at AEL. “This investment reinforces our commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and comfort of every patient we serve.”

This state-of-the-art aircraft offers a noticeably more comfortable experience, offering more space for providers and patients. In an upgrade that elevates the level of care available during air medical transport, the new model is centered on the needs of those we serve – creating a new benchmark for medical transport in the region.

Enhanced Aircraft, Elevated Care
The Bell 407 offers a noticeably more capable experience for both patients and providers. Key upgrades include:
  • Increased Power and Speed: The aircraft’s enhanced performance allows for quicker transport to higher levels of care—proven to improve outcomes in trauma, cardiac events, and strokes. Faster return times also ensure readiness for the next emergency.
  • Expanded Cabin Space: The larger interior accommodates bigger patients and allows for a third rider, such as a parent or additional medical provider, under specific circumstances—providing comfort and continuity of care.
The same highly trained and dedicated clinicians who have served the region for years will continue to provide the highest level of care. Air Evac 157 will maintain its long-standing capabilities, including the transport of blood products, a critical resource for trauma patients, and the ability to carry an Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)—a device that supports cardiac function during severe heart conditions. These advanced tools have been part of the team’s commitment to critical care for years and remain integral to their mission.

Peace of Mind Through Membership
With more than 150 bases across 18 states, AEL has grown into one of the nation's leading helicopter EMS providers. GMR air providers are part of the AirMedCare Network (AMCN). AMCN membership helps reduce the financial burden of emergency air medical services, which can amount to tens of thousands of dollars, by covering out-of-pocket expenses only when members are flown by a participating provider.

Membership covers all residents of a household and is available for $99 per year. A discounted rate of $79 per year is offered for senior households. AMCN network spans 38 states, with aircraft stationed at more than 320 locations. Group discounted rates are also available to businesses and organizations.
