AMR Mission District Medical Team Program Sees 32 Percent Decline in 911 Calls

AMR's targeted program is helping reduce emergency calls in Knox County's medically troubled district by cutting repeat non-emergency ambulance responses.
For years, Knoxville’s Mission District generated a high volume of 911 calls, many of which involved individuals needing routine medical care rather than emergency treatment. To address this challenge, American Medical Response (AMR) launched the Mission District Medical Team two-and-a-half years ago, with the goal of reducing repeat non-emergency ambulance responses that were straining EMS resources. Since then, 911 requests from the Mission District have declined by 32%, helping ensure ambulances remain available for time-critical emergencies such as serious crashes and heart attacks.
