The scholarships will provide opportunities to earn the education needed to start a rewarding career with AMR as an EMT.
As the need for EMTs and paramedics continues to grow in communities across the United States, American Medical Response (AMR) Seattle is announcing scholarship opportunities for those wanting to pursue careers in Emergency Medical Services. The scholarships will provide opportunities for underrepresented adults and those facing financial hardship to earn the education needed to start a rewarding career with AMR as an EMT.

AMR Seattle Operations Manager KC McCoy recognizes the importance of increasing accessibility to rewarding career opportunities through education and financial aid. "As an organization that has proudly served the communities of King County for 98 years, we have a responsibility to help those who are interested in pursuing careers that better the future of this community," said McCoy. "These scholarships provide funding for all associated costs of EMT training and certification and lessen the financial concerns that may be preventing area residents from pursuing this kind of career.”

“These scholarships present an outstanding opportunity for anyone looking to begin a career in EMS,” said Harold Scoggins, Fire Chief for the Seattle Fire Department. “Skilled EMTs are essential to our local community and there is a wealth of opportunity for growth and advancement in the industry.”

Upon graduation and completion of the National Registry EMT and Washington State EMT certifications, scholarship recipients will transition to full-time employment with AMR Seattle for 12-months with the possibility for advancement or promotion.

To qualify, scholarship applicants must: be 18 years of age, show proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, have all required immunizations, be citizens or legal U.S. residents and successfully complete the pre-employment screening.

Applicants can apply online at amr.net or in-person at 13075 Gateway Drive, Suite 100, Tukwila, WA 98168. Applications are due by July 6, 2021, and award decisions will be announced by August 6. For questions about the scholarships, applicants can contact AMR Community Liaison, Amy Link.
