Matt Walton recently celebrated a career milestone – his 500th flight wings
Moberly, Mo., flight paramedic Matt Walton recently celebrated a career milestone – his 500th flight wings, which indicates the number of patients he has flown. Walton started his career with Air Evac Lifeteam in 2014, when the company opened the Moberly air medical base. He previously worked as a paramedic for Cole County EMS.

“I started working in EMS in 2003, and earned my paramedic license in 2008,” Walton said. “I’ve always wanted to be in EMS.”

And being a flight paramedic?

“Flying is better than I thought it would be,” Walton said. “The best part of my job is getting to work with all of the crews – on the ground and in the air.”

The married father of two said earning his 500th flight wings is a source of pride.

“The wings show how long you’ve been at it, and your level of experience,” he said. “And to know that I’ve had an impact on 500 patients means a lot.”
