Randy Owen to Step Down as President and CEO; Board to Launch Comprehensive Search for a Permanent Successor and Establish Interim Office of the Chief Executive
Global Medical Response (GMR), the leading national integrated air and ground mobile patient care and transportation services provider, today announced a leadership transition in which Randy Owen is stepping down as President and CEO. An Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) has been formed to provide interim oversight, direction and leadership while the Board conducts a search for a permanent successor. The changes take effect immediately.

“On behalf of the Board and GMR, I would like to express our appreciation to Randy for his leadership and support over the past several years and we wish him well as he embarks on his next endeavor,” said Jay Grinney, Chairman of GMR. “As Chairman of the Board since 2018, I have witnessed the strength and resiliency of GMR and our team members, and I am confident that as part of the OCE with Michael and Ted, we will continue to build upon GMR’s core strengths in order to serve our patients in their time of need.”

The OCE will comprise the following members:
  • Jay Grinney: Non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of GMR since 2018. Former President and CEO of HealthSouth Corporation and Former President of the Eastern Group at HCA. Jay will provide direct Board oversight, advice and coordination with GMR executives.
  • Michael Preissler: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of GMR since 2018. He has been an officer of GMR predecessor companies since 2008 and in senior leadership roles since 2007.
  • Edward (Ted) Van Horne: Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GMR since 2018. He has been an officer of GMR predecessor companies since 2013 and in senior leadership roles since 2002.
“We look forward to partnering with Jay and continuing to work with the rest of the long-tenured management team at GMR,” said Michael Preissler (CFO) and Ted Van Horne (COO). “On behalf of over 32,000 clinicians and frontline workers who are the bedrock of GMR and its ability to serve patients and communities across the country, we remain steadfast in our mission of Providing Care to the World at a Moment’s Notice.”

Randy Owen stated, “I am extremely proud of the GMR team and what we have accomplished these last several years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been my greatest honor to work alongside all of the GMR team members and see acts of caring and selflessness every single day. We have made great strides as a company, and we have served our communities well. I look forward to watching the team’s continued success in the future.”
