Agreement will Enhance GMR’s Portfolio of Wildland, Industrial and Technical Fire Services.
(FIDDLERS GREEN, Colo.) — Global Medical Response (GMR) officials announced today that its operating company, Rural/Metro Fire, completed a transaction to acquire the assets of Capstone Fire & Safety Management. Capstone Fire & Safety, headquartered in Escondido, Calif., operates in five states, primarily in California and Texas, and has more than 100 employees and a fleet of more than 60 vehicles and trailers. The purchase will bring the employees and operations under GMR’s Rural/Metro Fire operations.

Matt Dusa, CEO of Capstone Fire & Safety Management, said as a family owned and operated business since 2007, the time was right to enact a succession plan for his father, the chairman and majority owner, to retire. “When looking for a strategic partner we sought out a company that understood the fire service, valued our company culture, and had the resources to help us reach our future goals. We believe that our years of experience in the wildland fire and technical rescue industries will complement the GMR specialty fire group and together we will form a leader in the international fire and rescue marketplace.”

Randy Owen, president and CEO for Global Medical Response, said the acquisition is a win-win. “Their areas of expertise, including wildfire prevention and suppression, industrial fire services, rescue, safety and compliance, dovetail with GMR’s fire portfolio highlighted by Rural Metro Fire.”
