Global Medical Response (GMR) is proud to announce Amy McKenney as the new executive director of the GMR Foundation for Research and Education (FRE). In this role, McKenney will oversee the executive functions of the Foundation.

McKenney has been with GMR for eight years, working first in the human resources department, eventually moving to event medical, serving as the national manager of Event Medical and program manager for the GMR Motorsports Safety Team – a role she will continue in conjunction with her new position as the FRE’s executive director. McKenney has previously worked with the FRE as the annual golf tournament’s volunteer and event coordinator.

“Coming from a background with nonprofit organizations, GMR’s value of corporate responsibility and guiding principle of citizenship was what originally drew me to the Foundation,” says McKenney. ”My experience in event planning and team management has prepared me for this role. My extensive background in these areas have allowed me to establish and nurture relationships with stakeholders and board members.”

The GMR FRE is committed to supporting clinical, educational and health-system research designed to improve the care and safety of patients in the out-of-hospital setting through varied grants and institutional scholarships within the industry. Most notably, the GMR FRE has established the Institutional Scholarship Grant Program, awarding up to $100,000 per year to various colleges across the country to be used for EMT and paramedic scholarships, as well as offering professional development grants for EMS professionals and participation in the ESO Prehospital Care Research Forum (PCRF). The PCRF is a three-day workshop for frontline clinicians and clinical leaders. The Foundation also awards durable medical equipment grants to qualified educational institutions.

“Amy stepped up to the plate offering her expertise to the Foundation, serving as its interim director since March 2023 and now accepting the position full-time. We are thrilled to have her compassion and tenacity directed towards the goals of this critical cause,” states Randy Strozyk, GMR FRE board president.
