The air medical provider now has the capability to administer blood to trauma patients.
Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans) is proud to announce that Med Evac now carries blood products on all aircraft for bases stationed in Northern Colorado. As of April 15, blood is now offered on all flights for the service area of Boulder, Greeley and Sterling. This investment is in partnership with Banner Health.

"We recognize that blood is a precious and limited resource and are proud to have teamed up with our blood banks to assure safe and sustainable use. We also believe this serves as a valuable reminder of the need for blood donors. Donation is a quick and easy way for others to help save lives and support our mission,” said Joe Darmofal, program director for Banner Health.

Offering blood allows our medical crews the opportunity to provide more aggressive and immediate care to patients who may be suffering from severe blood loss.

“Under the medical direction of Dr. Shannon Sovndal, this resource enhances our first responders’ ability to improve patient outcomes,” said Landon Brown, regional business director for Global Medical Response, Med-Trans' parent company. “Adding blood products to every flight is significant to Med-Trans' and Banner Health’s dedication to the highest-level emergency medical services possible, at a moment’s notice.”

Med Evac has proudly served communities in Colorado for 42 years.
