Bobby Brinson

Program Manager

Caring for patients and supporting communities takes more than the medical crews in the air. It also depends on the people behind the scenes who ensure every flight is safe, every crew is ready and every patient receives timely care. Bobby Brinson, a program manager in Brownwood, TX is one such individual whose leadership helps make that possible.

Bobby found himself in Iraq in the early 2000s. It was a time in his life when all he saw was “the action,” so when his call of duty completed, he was happy to tone things down a little. He thought maybe he’d go into law enforcement; something rooted in community service but something that might also lead to Support someday.

Instead, a mutual friend suggested he try EMS. Almost 30 years later, Bobby has held positions ranging from flight paramedic to clinical educator at Global Medical Response (GMR) including Air Evac. It was the perfect career move, allowing him to balance a healthy mind while also requiring the skills he’d developed in the Army.

Those skills he developed? “People skills,” Bobby affirms. “The willingness to work with anyone despite any differences is something I gained early in my career and continue to use today. If someone is interested in a career in EMS, especially with GMR, remember—it's a tough field. Have a plan for yourself and set obtainable goals. That will foster your growth.”

Bobby adds, “The only thing I would have done differently earlier on was take better care of myself physically, mentally and spiritually. Learn the art of saying no even when it’s difficult. Check out sometimes and decompress. Pray. Learn to meditate. A healthy mind is as important as a healthy heart.”

As one of the first Air Evac Lifeteam program directors ever on staff, his wisdom has spread to many. Mark Dent, Bobby’s former paramedic partner and an Air Evac flight nurse, attests to the natural ability Bobby has at transforming a very physical and demanding call into a methodical, measured practice; one that keeps everyone safe and on task in a thoughtful, empathetic way. This testament comes from being in the field—from “the action” — while Bobby maintains his purpose is in operations.

There are many career options out there, and no single way to pursue them. Bobby chose leadership while Mark remains in the field. Both found their purpose at Air Evac Lifeteam, where careers can ignite unique passions and help professionals discover the path that fits best.
