Daniel Ivey
Flight Paramedic
Family and emergency medical services (EMS) were deeply intertwined in Daniel Ivey’s life, each serving as a foundation for the other, which played a significant role in his success as a flight paramedic.
Having practically grown up within his local EMS station and firehouse in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Daniel was drawn to the first responder profession from a young age. His parents served as early role models; his father was a paramedic, and his mother worked briefly as an emergency medical technician (EMT). After completing his education, he followed a similar path, entering the field in 2016 by joining Air Evac Lifeteam (AEL) 135 in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
It was his wealth of industry knowledge and experience that enabled him to step into leadership roles including mobile integrated health (MIH), community paramedic and service as an interim manager and clinical education specialist for ground operation and partner agency, American Medical Response (AMR) Edmond, Oklahoma.
He also cultivated his clinical skills by observing his found family—his fellow crew members. By learning to work collaboratively with his peers, Daniel quickly discovered the best ways to prioritize safety while responding to each call’s specific needs.
Then, eight years later, he had kids. “[I] flew right up until my first was born in 2022,” Daniel recalls. By then, he’d become a talented, high-level critical care provider. It was his wealth of industry knowledge and experience that allowed him to temporarily transition into leadership roles; including mobile integrated health, community paramedic and as an interim manager and clinical education specialist for ground operation, AMR Edmond, Oklahoma.
“In my experience,” he concludes, “AEL—and its parent company, GMR—is dedicated to a safety-oriented culture and provides us with the training and tools we need to help our patients when they need it the most. So, I came back in 2024, and I will keep coming back, counting my years with GMR, until the next big family event.”
We are happy to have you, Daniel, and we welcome any job seeker with your dedication and commitment to EMS to find their place among us for life.
