Flight Nurses Kelly Hamill and Christina Philpott competed against 16 crews at the Critical Care Transport Conference.
Earlier this month, two Matoon, Illinois, Air Evac Lifeteam (AEL) first responders attended the Critical Care Transport Conference (CCTC) in Orange Beach, Alabama. Flight Nurses Kelly Hamill and Christina Philpott competed against 16 crews in the conference’s clinical simulation challenge, placing second overall. The CCTC clinical challenge is a three-phase simulation where teams must execute patient care in complex emergency-medical situations.

“The ability and skillset required to compete and excel in challenges like this speaks to the capabilities of our first responders,” said Joe Grygiel, vice president of operations for AEL. “Kelly and Christina exemplify the adaptability of our AEL crews.”

Hamill and Philpott placed first in the AEL All Access Challenge, a yearly simulation challenge hosted at Air Evac Lifeteam headquarters. AEL first responders from across the nation gathered to compete for a chance to represent the company at the CCTC.

“The opportunity to collaborate and learn alongside first responders from around the nation was a great way to refine our skills,” said Christina Philpott, flight nurse for AEL. “Kelly and I love what we do because we get to help people in their worst moment. You want to always be striving for perfection when that is your mission.”

Air Evac Lifeteam prioritizes the continuing education of its first responders and is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
