AMR in Billings, Montana earned two of the state's highest honors in the EMS industry: the EMS Service of the Year Award and the EMS for Children Pediatric Award.
t the forefront of emergency medical services (EMS) excellence, American Medical Response (AMR), a division of Global Medical Response, has earned two of the state's highest honors in the industry: the EMS Service of the Year Award, and the EMS for Children Pediatric Award. These prestigious accolades underscore AMR’s unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care, community safety, and education. As leaders in the field, AMR continues to set the standard for innovation, service quality, and dedication, distinguishing itself from the competition in its pursuit of improving lives every day.
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services will present these awards to AMR on Thursday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Capitol Rotunda, 1301 E. 6th Avenue, Helena. Members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony.
"We are incredibly honored to receive both the EMS Service of the Year Award and the EMS for Children Pediatric Award," said Brian Hansen, operations manager for AMR Billings. "These recognitions reflect our team's hard work and dedication to providing exceptional care and support to our community."
EMS Service of the Year Award
The EMS Service of the Year Award recognizes EMS agencies that demonstrate exceptional performance in education, quality improvement, injury prevention, community outreach, and collaboration with other emergency service organizations. AMR’s dedication to the well-being of the Billings community, along with its active involvement in public safety education, exemplifies the core values that earned this distinction.
In addition, AMR is proud to celebrate Koren Bloom, a paramedic with AMR since 1997, as the recipient of the EMS for Children Pediatric Award. Bloom is a cornerstone of the Billings operation and has been instrumental in shaping the safety landscape for children in Yellowstone County. With nearly three decades of experience, she has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to ensuring the safety of the community’s most valuable population—children.
Keeping Billing’s Children Safe
"Koren is a phenomenal individual whose top priority is our children's safety,” said Hansen. “Whether teaching kids, working on an ambulance, or advocating with legislators, her priority is top-notch patient care. She has made a lasting impact on the lives of many families.”
Back in 2007, Bloom was deeply affected by the number of unrestrained children involved in fatal traffic accidents and knew that there needed to be a change. She spearheaded the creation of the non-profit coalition Safe Kids of Yellowstone County. Over the years, Safe Kids has provided hundreds, if not thousands, of car seats to kids in need, all at low or no cost. Bloom continues to regularly hold car seat checks to ensure that children are being restrained properly in the car and has expanded to doing checks in two other cities in the county.
Following the tragic loss of seven teens in 2023, due to reckless driving, Bloom launched the Impact Teen Driving program to educate local teens on the dangers of distracted driving and promote safer road behaviors.
Serving Billings with Dedication to Patients, First Responders and Community Members
AMR’s dedication to community service is evident through its partnerships with clinics, hospitals, fire departments, and law enforcement agencies. Additionally, AMR actively supports local non-profit organizations, holding raffles and highlighting a non-profit each year at their awards banquet.
Hansen adds, “At AMR, we are not just responding to emergencies—we are committed to improving lives, building safer communities, and setting the standard for EMS excellence. These recognitions fuel our ongoing mission to provide the highest level of care to those who need it most.”
