Global Medical Response (GMR) today announced it has finalized a transaction to acquire the assets of Arizona Ambulance Transport (AZAT). The purchase agreement includes a fleet of 11 vehicles along with medical supplies and equipment. As a result of the purchase, 54 AZAT employees have transitioned to employment with GMR.

The AZAT operations local leadership team will continue to be led by Operation Manager Chris Alleman, a legacy AZAT employee. Chris is a valued member of AZAT and offers robust experience and knowledge of the local community. In addition, this operation will also be supported by GMR’s regional leadership team, including John Valentine, Regional Director, and Mike Schwartz, Program Director. Both offer extensive EMS experience in the state of Arizona.

Founded in 2000, AZAT has provided the highest level of care and service to the communities of southern Arizona for 21 years, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Critical Care Transport (CCT). Through this transition, AZAT will continue to provide care to its client base and will continue to grow its brand and services throughout southern Arizona as part of the GMR family.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for the team at Arizona Ambulance Transport,” said John Valentine, Regional Director for Global Medical Response. “Arizona Ambulance is a premier EMS agency with an outstanding reputation and a tremendous leadership team that only stands to benefit from the resources and guidance offered by GMR.”

“We are thrilled to be joining Global Medical Response,” said Chris Alleman, Operations Manager for AZAT. “With access to expanded resources, we will be able to continue to enhance our services and serve as great community partners.”

Randy Owen, CEO for Global Medical Response, said the acquisition will benefit the communities long-served by the brand. “Residents of southern Arizona will continue to receive outstanding, locally focused care from the well-known and respected Arizona Ambulance Transport brand, but will now benefit from the national infrastructure, investment and resources of Global Medical Response."
